ALRB staff tracking AB 845, privacy bill and SB 846 as session moves forward

Legislative staff told the Agricultural Labor Relations Board on Thursday that the agency is tracking several bills that could affect its data-sharing and outreach work.
Mikayla Powell, the board’s legislative contact, said AB 845 would “encode in the law” the RCEP “no wrong door” policy and a data-sharing program the agency is setting up through its Strategic Engagement Program. Powell said the agency had provided a response to the Assembly Appropriations Committee and is tracking the bill.
Powell also said a privacy-related bill she identified as AB 1300 (author and exact text not specified during the meeting) would address personally identifiable information held by state agencies and has been designated a two-year bill. Finally, Powell said SB 846 (sponsored by McNerney, as reported) was set for hearing May 6.
Powell told the board the agency would continue monitoring these measures; no board action was taken on the bills during the meeting.
