Board approves two driveway/entrance permits for South Fork and Fairfield townships

At its April 29 meeting, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved two entrance permits: a field entrance for OTW LLC on 30 Seventh Street in South Fork Township and a residential entrance for Jesse Clark on 400th Avenue (Z 20) in Fairfield Township.Section 25.

County engineering staff told the board the OTW LLC field entrance met required sight-distance standards and did not require a culvert because the location sits above the ditch low point. On the Clark permit, staff said the proposed driveway met sight-distance requirements, required a culvert, and sits on a paved route. Because the route has more than 400 vehicles per day, staff noted the driveway must have a flatter slope and therefore a longer culvert tube; that requirement is stated on the permit and the property owner has been informed.

County Engineer’s office staff recommended approval of both permits. Supervisor Mike Steinus moved to approve the OTW LLC field entrance; the motion was seconded and carried. The board then approved the Jesse Clark residential entrance after a second motion and voice vote.

The permits, as described on the county’s permit forms, require compliance with sight-distance and culvert specifications listed on each permit and make the property owner responsible for construction and maintenance of the driveway feature. The board did not attach additional conditions beyond those in the permit documents.

Copies of the approved permits will remain on file at the county engineer’s office and will be incorporated into the county’s permit records.
