The commission authorized a public review to run from May 2 to May 23 and scheduled a public meeting for May 19 to hear comments and consider final approval. The draft TIP lists highway and transit projects eligible for federal and state funds over a five‑year period, with a mix of capital and operating projects for the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) and potential highway projects including intersection work at the Milestone Road rotary and the Milestone/Nobadeer Farm Road intersection.
Transportation program manager Mike Burns briefed the commission on the draft TIP, noting limited programmable highway projects for FY26–30 but an annual placeholder of about $6.7 million and several projects in concept or design phases. Burns also detailed proposed transit capital priorities including workforce housing for NRTA staff, a possible new NRTA maintenance facility in FY27, fleet modernization and continued efforts to replace diesel with lower‑emission vehicles.
A roll‑call vote recorded all commissioners present in the affirmative. The commission requested staff and communications to publish the draft TIP and accept comments during the review period; staff will return with a recommendation at the May 19 meeting to approve the TIP following the 21‑day review.
