The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors approved routine claims, contract renewals and a personnel hire during its regular meeting.
The board approved payroll reimbursement claims totaling $242.72 and passed a resolution setting the time and date for the fiscal-year 2025 budget amendment hearing. Supervisors then approved a one-year janitorial services agreement that covers cleaning at county facilities including the jail (service five times per week), county offices and the safety building; the board-recorded total for janitorial services across listed facilities was $48,216.
Supervisors also renewed a three-year contract with Southeast Regional Planning for land-use services; county staff said the agreement has been in place in various forms since the mid-2000s and the updated contract adds references to airport and wind/solar regulations. The board approved a personnel action to hire Charles Robert Thompson as a part-time transport officer at the correctional center at a rate of $21.19 per hour.
The board received the Billy Meier Trust annual report for the 01/01/2025–03/01/2025 period and approved minutes for the April 22, 2025 regular meeting. Each of the listed motions was approved by the board during roll-call or voice vote as recorded in the meeting transcript.
