In an informational segment the Facilities Committee received updates on bond projects, surplus inventory and the district’s long-range plan.
Facilities staff reported progress at East Elementary and Forest Hills High School. For East Elementary staff said interior finishes are progressing, inspectors were on site seeking a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) that would allow furniture delivery, and furniture deliveries could begin next week if the TCO is issued. Staff said the full certificate of occupancy likely will not be issued until later in the year after paving and final site work; Forest Hills staff said that site is less far along and teacher move-in is anticipated in June.
On surplus inventory staff presented a short list of items proposed for surplus; committee members asked clarifying questions about specific items (for example, “cam shooter” and a “plastic injector motor”), and staff explained those items. Finally, staff said the district’s long-range plan, developed in 2020, will be re-evaluated to reflect population shifts and changing needs; facilities will assemble a stakeholder group and provide a timeline to the committee in coming months.
These items were informational and did not require committee action beyond receiving the updates; staff committed to sending interior millwork/furniture diagrams for East Elementary to committee members and to providing a timeline for the long-range plan work.
