Union County outlines Infinite Campus transition timeline, training and parent supports

Union County Public Schools staff told the committee they are on track to transition from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus as the district’s student information system, with a roadmap of 12 milestones, multiple staff trainings and parent supports ahead of the planned July 1 go‑live for larger districts.

Jay Parker presented the roadmap staff developed in February, covering May 2024 through May 2025 and broken into four quarters and 12 milestones. He said a majority of the work is training staff and teachers and cleaning and “sanitizing” data to ensure accuracy in GPA, report cards, courses and demographic and medical information as the district runs PowerSchool and Infinite Campus in parallel for verification. “We are now in the 99 percentile where we feel like we have converted 99% right. We're working on the last 1% so that we're as clean as possible when we open up this new platform,” Parker said.

Key schedule dates Parker provided: May 1 is the district deadline for completing schedules in PowerSchool so they can transfer to Infinite Campus; June 25 is the state “hard cutoff” when DPI runs the end‑of‑year transition (EOI); the district’s verification window runs June 25–July 7, and the district plans to reopen the environment on July 7. Parker also detailed on‑site DPI training the district will host May 13 (conference‑style sessions for data managers, counselors and school champions) and additional summer trainings July 31, Aug. 6 and Aug. 13.

Parker said the district has created training start pages for teachers, invited PowerSchool users to Infinite Campus training, established two training sites with vetted data and built parent FAQs and portal onboarding materials. He said the state’s Infinite Campus team has complimented Union County’s data cleanliness and processes and that staff from project management and SIS coordinators (Chris Conway, Amy Creswell, Bridal Broadway and Leah Croom) had logged substantial hours on data work.

Committee members asked about parent portal adoption metrics, supports at open houses and whether schedules are tracking to the May 1 deadline. Parker said reporting will show parent signups by school, schools will have staff and data managers available at open houses to help parents claim accounts, and the district has been holding open labs for scheduling and is “on task” for the May 1 deadline. The committee received the update for information; no committee vote was taken.
