Library materials review deferred as district notes pending federal lawsuit

Miss Maxwell (who placed the item on the agenda) presented a modified draft policy modeled in part on Williamson County's rubric and a “restricted parents list” mechanism that would require parental consent for access to certain titles. She said she had included a sample rubric and intended it as guidance for librarians.
Board members said they understood the legal constraints and agreed to revisit the policy after the court's resolution. “We can make modifications to… take a look at that at a later date,” Miss Maxwell said. No motion to adopt changes was made and the item was held for later consideration.
The discussion left open whether the district will adopt a rubric and a parental restriction list pending legal developments.
