Council adopts updated Montgomery branding with 'Established 1837' and flag outline

The council voted to accept a refreshed branding package for Montgomery, Texas on April 29, 2025, approving a logo with an amendment to add “Established in 1837” and an outline around the flag, and designating a separate design option as an alternate.

During the branding discussion staff presented several logo options intended for tourism, economic development, marketing and event materials. One council member moved to accept item number 4 with the amendment adding the establishment date and an outline around the flag; another council member seconded the motion.

Prosecutor Wood called for the vote and asked for discussion. After no further substantive debate the prosecutor asked, “All those in favor, we're accepting item number 4, with the stated amendment and item number 5. Say aye.” Multiple members responded in the affirmative and the motion carried.

Council members also discussed minor stylistic preferences such as whether to display “City of” alongside “Montgomery” and whether to include the year of establishment in the mark. The approved motion specifically added “Established in 1837” and the flag outline; the council designated option 5 as an alternate design with an updated date.

Why it matters: the new branding will be used on city tourism and economic-development materials and is intended to modernize Montgomery’s visual identity for visitors and prospective businesses.
