Reparations task force to release phase 1 this summer; city officials say phase 2 recommendations will follow

Mariangeli Solis Rivera said phase 1 covers a historical study of roughly 400 years and that the administration expects to formally publish the phase 1 report "by the summertime, thinking of August, September." She said phase 1 includes multiple units of study and has involved public meetings where grassroots partners presented research and community-based planning.
Solis Rivera said phase 2 will build on phase 1's data and community input to craft actionable recommendations and that the task force is deliberately pacing the work while monitoring national developments that could affect implementation.
Councilors asked when the next public meeting will take place; Solis Rivera said May 12 would feature additional presentations from grassroots partners and noted that public and in-person options are provided for task force meetings.
Officials did not present final recommendations at the hearing; councilors asked for continued updates and for the administration to share the phase 1 report with the council when available.
