Tipton discusses paramedic training partnership, ambulance 'intercept' billing and staffing updates for police and fire

On staffing, the council reported the police department is in the middle of a hiring phase: two male and one female applicants had passed physicals and were expected to be interviewed in early May. The city reported it was one officer short of full staffing at present. For fire and EMS, officials said the department lost "three — two firefighters and one paramedic" over the last six months but that those positions have been filled; multiple firefighters are pursuing paramedic certification.
