The finance committee approved purchases and a media release for Medina Recreation Center (MCRC) operations.
Jansen, presenting for the rec center, said staff wants to buy three new Precor adaptive motion trainers through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program. He said the units replace equipment in service since 2015, one of which is beyond repair, and that the department has $35,000 budgeted for fitness equipment. Jansen said the new units will include consoles with integrated entertainment similar to assigned treadmills.
Separately, the committee approved an agreement to allow American Dream Media and Tech Holdings to film a segment at the recreation center at no cost to the city. Jansen said the program is nationally streamed and that the filming will include staff interviews and b‑roll; the filming is scheduled for May. He said the city will receive a copy of the finished video for its own marketing use. Because the filming and any required signatures were imminent, the committee approved the agreement with an emergency clause.
Outcome: Motions to purchase the equipment and to approve the media release passed by voice vote. Staff will proceed with procurement through Sourcewell and finalize the filming agreement.
