The service department purchase was approved by resolution; staff reported the truck cost $93,845 and the approved budget was $120,000. The city’s current dump truck is a 2001 model and has been described as increasingly unreliable; staff said repairs and downtime have affected operations. Council approved the purchase on a roll-call vote and discussed the likelihood of salvaging the old truck.
Separately, council authorized staff to solicit bids for the Marnell Sewer Project. The motion to authorize bid solicitation was moved by Council member Balestreya and seconded by Council member Minor and passed on roll call. Staff said bids will be opened and a later council meeting will include the award recommendation.
City staff also noted plans to advertise bids for tennis court repairs in May and that awarded public-contracts will return to council for final award following bid opening. Council members asked about procurement timing and next steps; staff said bids will be advertised, opened, and then the award will return to council for final approval.
