Council approved Resolution 2025-19 authorizing the mayor to contract with Classic Ford to purchase a new Ford F-550 dump truck for the service department at a cost of $93,845, below the council-approved budget of $120,000. Council members noted the current dump truck dates to 2001 and has been out of service repeatedly; staff said the vehicle is needed for daily service-department operations.
Council also approved a motion authorizing staff to solicit bids for the Marnell sewer project, allowing the city to begin the procurement process and later return to council to award the contract after bids are opened. During discussion members asked whether the old truck would be sold for salvage; staff said that is likely.
Both items passed on roll call votes. Staff will return to council with bid results for the Marnell project and with arrangements for disposition of the retired vehicle.
