Earlier action items approved by voice vote included low-cost and event-related items: a $350 DJ contract funded by the middle-school PBIS donation account, the Strauss Entertainment contract for field day, the Shippensburg Area Senior High trip to Quebec, a temporary grant-funded social worker job description, and the appointment of Dr. Baxter Drew Wellman as school physician with a one-time $1,500 fee for the fiscal year.
Most motions were moved and seconded by board members identified at the meeting and approved by voice vote; administration recommended funding sources for each item (technology budget, fund balance, construction fund or donation accounts) at the time of the motions.
The board did not debate every item at length; several items drew brief clarifying questions about recurring costs and whether agreements were one-year contracts. Administration said the Nexus agreement is for one year with potential extension if the district chooses to continue the service.
