Track painting is on hold until nighttime lows stay at or above 50 degrees and until the settling issue is resolved.
Committee members and staff discussed a span of the new track that has settled. Fred, a school board member, asked whether the district would be responsible for repair costs; Jason said, "At this point, no," and added that K&W (the designer) and ECI (the general contractor) have been asked to evaluate and address the area. Jason said the district has involved K&W and ECI, tapped SiteLogic personnel to help coordinate, and consulted the district attorney to ensure proper handling of liabilities and repairs.
On project finances, Jason reported one approved change order for electrical work tied to code revisions discovered during the building permit drawing review by the township. He also reported contingency figures discussed at the meeting: "the original contingency was about 275,005.50, and we're about 244,421 at this point," as stated in the meeting record.
The district emphasized that the settling needs investigation before the track can receive its top coat and before painting resumes. Jason said geotechnical borings exist for the project but not at every square foot of the track; the team is reviewing boring records to determine whether the specific settled area was tested and will have K&W and ECI perform an evaluation and a plan for repair.
