District staff recommend one-year rollover of three bus contracts with adjustment to aid billing

District staff told the Committee of the Whole that transportation contract extensions for three providers are being presented as one-year rollovers so busing will be in place for the coming school year.
Randy (staff member) said the three contractors include one primary provider and two supplemental providers and that every contractor currently provides at least one aide on routes. He said the Boyo contract includes a change to how aide work is billed so the district and the contractor can clearly identify the aide, the vehicle and the hours worked. Randy described the change as an accounting and billing-method update, not a change in service levels.
Board members asked if the three companies receive the same amount of money; Randy responded yes. Committee discussion confirmed the extensions mirror the prior year’s contracts except for the aide-billing adjustment to the Boyo agreement. Committee members said the district will start a competitive process (RFP or renegotiation) in late summer or early fall when the district prepares for multi-year contracts.
No formal motion or vote was recorded at the committee meeting; staff said they expect to place the contract extensions on the board agenda next week for action.
