Wichita County, AgriLife introduce new Family & Consumer Health agent Meredith Utley

The Wichita County Commissioners Court on April 29 heard a presentation from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension introducing Meredith Utley as the new Family and Consumer Health agent for the county.
Katrina Mitchell and AgriLife staff said the district reinstated the position after more than a decade; the court approved the budget for the role earlier and the county has supported bringing the function back to local extension services. Mitchell said Meredith Utley is local, has community contacts and will begin in June (either June 1 or June 9, depending on College Station training timelines).
"We appreciate the judge and the commissioners having that faith in AgriLife and bringing it back to our office," Mitchell said. Staff noted the district extension administrator was absent because of a construction walkthrough at a district office damaged by a past tornado. Commissioners welcomed Utley to the county family and discussed coordinating extension activities such as Keys to the Courthouse and school visits.
The court did not take a separate vote in the presentation; staff said office space for extension staff will be available in county facilities before long and additional extension hires (a Better Living for Texans agent) remain open.
