The current contract began Jan. 1, 2016, and will expire at the end of this year.
Monica said MVCC has retained engineering and legal firms that helped with the existing contract and agreed to pay one-third of the estimated professional services costs; Beavercreek’s estimated share for those firms is $3,775, calculated by a population formula among participating cities.
She cited Ohio law authorizing joint negotiations among municipalities, specifically Ohio Revised Code Section 743.28, and described a timeline: MVCC asks participating cities to pass an ordinance by May 31 so the negotiated contract can be in place when the current agreement expires. To meet that schedule, council moved to advance Ordinance 25-10 to a second reading as an emergency and approved the motion by roll call; all members present voted yes.
Council agreed to return the ordinance for an emergency second reading at the May 27 council meeting so the city can meet MVCC’s timeline.
