Shepherdsville council and developers revise Prologis annexation plans after resident concerns

The changes followed two community meetings and a library session where residents raised concerns about proximity to housing, traffic and lighting. “They took all the information from the two meetings and they’re doing it,” the mayor said. “They’re not building the building that’s right real close to the Cedar Place. So that building is gone.” The mayor added Prologis is working on design changes to move a structure back “so they can get a better tree line” and lower lights to around 20 feet.
Jeremy said a previously scheduled special planning meeting for the east edge of Cedar Grove Industrial Park was canceled and that, if the presentation at the May 12 meeting satisfies residents and the council, someone would introduce an annexation bill; any required second reading would not occur until June 9 because of the city’s budget schedule. The mayor said the city plans an additional meeting to show the revised renderings to nearby residents before any formal council action.
Council members emphasized they are not soliciting annexations and reiterated that the city will follow a public process. The mayor said the city, the developer and residents will continue working together and that additional restrictions will be applied to development on the industrial park edges where homes could be affected. No ordinance or annexation vote was taken at the meeting.
The council directed staff to circulate the revised renderings and to schedule another community presentation; a formal annexation ordinance will be considered only after those steps.
