State Department declines to confirm reported student visa revocations; refers specific military-casualty queries to Defense

When asked about news reports that 4,000 student visas for people with criminal records had been revoked in the administration's first 100 days, a State Department spokesperson said the department "does not discuss the details of visas" and does not provide visa statistics.
Separately, the spokesperson said they were "not prepared to speak" about reporting that 68 mostly Ethiopian migrants were killed in a detention center in Yemen and that they would refer questions about possible U.S. military involvement to the Department of Defense. The spokesperson said Houthi attacks continue to hinder international trade in the Red Sea and that questions on the specific reported incident should be addressed by the Defense Department and may be followed up later this week by State.
On an earlier question about Iraq's arrest of an ISIS suspect linked to a New Orleans terror attack, the spokesperson said they had not asked the secretary about that case earlier and would take the question back to obtain a response.
