Committee approves two small appropriation transfers for business and planning needs

The Budget & Finance committee voted April 28 to forward two small appropriation transfers to the full council with favorable recommendations.
Kate King, finance officer in the Office of Planning & Development, described the requests. The first transfer—Item 156-25—was an appropriation of $5,000 from Business & Economic Development travel to office supplies to buy laptops for staff. King said some staff currently share a single laptop and that additional devices would improve efficiency for staff working at off-site events or remotely.
The second transfer—Item 157-25—was an appropriation of $5,200 from the same travel line to other purchased services to cover planning department needs such as property appraisals and occasional Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) filing fees that are not always predictable.
Both motions were made, seconded and approved by voice vote to send the items to the full council for referral or authorization.
