Board approves fencing, electrical change order and short insurance extension for new public safety facility

The Village of Beecher board approved contracts and a short insurance extension tied to the new public safety facility during the April 28 meeting.
The board voted to accept Bid Package 18 from Plastic Fence Incorporated to install fencing at the new public safety facility for $67,540. The vote was recorded by roll call and approved.
Trustees also approved a change order to Bid Package 16 (electrical) with Indecom Electric not to exceed $12,400 to install low-voltage conduit needed for gate and fence operators. The public buildings committee described the change order as necessary to accommodate gate operators and the fencing plan.
Finally, the board approved a one-month extension of the builder's-risk insurance policy for the new facility in an amount not to exceed $1,500. Committee members noted the current policy expired May 1, 2025, and that the expected move-in date had shifted to late May 2025, requiring the short extension to maintain coverage until occupancy.
Trustee Pyotchenko (Public Buildings and Properties/Parks & Recreation Committee) said the policy extension was within the chair's authority but sought board awareness before finalizing the payment. All three measures passed on roll call votes.
The approvals allow contractors to complete fence and gate work and keep construction insurance active while final move-in logistics are completed.
