The City Council thanked and congratulated the class of 2025 student commissioners for volunteering on Highland Park boards and commissions. The mayor read the list of students, asked them to stand for certificates and invited them to come forward for a group photo.
Students recognized included Lila Goldman and Hannah Key from the Business and Economic Development Advisory Group; Ava Heimgardner from the Cultural Arts Advisory Group; Adam Slavin from the Historic Preservation Commission; Luke Burns from the Housing Commission; Emma Fox and Rachel Mueller from the Human Relations Advisory Group; Julia Nathanson from the Library Board of Trustees; Alex Mendoza from the Plan and Design Commission; Delia Cashman and Jaylen Vargas from the Sister Cities Foundation; Ryan Kessler and Coby Silver from the Sustainability Advisory Group; and Evan Hecht from the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Council members praised the students' contributions and the mayor noted the students provided perspectives that helped shape conversations and policy recommendations.
