WICKLIFFE, Ohio — The Wickliffe City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2025-23 on April 28, amending the city’s vacant-property building registration chapter and declaring the ordinance an emergency so it will take effect immediately.
During the meeting the council moved to suspend rules to place Ordinance 2025-23 on its third and final reading and then adopted the ordinance by roll call. City council members voted in favor during the recorded roll call and the mayor signed the adoption on the meeting record.
The ordinance amends Chapter 1175 (Vacant Property Building Registration) of the Wickliffe Codified Ordinances, though the council’s public remarks at the meeting did not include line-by-line text. Council members cited the need to proceed promptly, and the vote placed the amended registration rules into effect on adoption.
Because the meeting record shows the council declared the ordinance an emergency and adopted it on third reading, the ordinance takes effect immediately under city rules; implementation details and administrative steps will follow from the city’s Building Department and Law Director.
