Organizers of the Visit Young County Food Truck Championships told the Commissioners Court they plan to close the Young County Courthouse square at noon Friday, June 6, for event setup, and court members signaled no objection to that plan.
Zach, identified in the meeting as the event’s executive director, said the event will mark its 10th year and named Josh Weathers as the headliner for the Saturday concert. “So far, we already have 40-ish that are under contract and completed all their paperwork,” Zach said, and he added the festival expects to take about 50 food trucks this year.
Zach described a change in sponsorship: the event will charge participating trucks a $250 fee and will reduce smaller truck-level sponsorship logistics. He said larger sponsors can receive logo inclusion and VIP concert benefits, and the festival will provide a VIP section with priority seating, bathrooms and bar service.
Court members agreed to schedule the courthouse-square closure at noon the Friday before the event to allow trucks and staging crews to set up. The court representative assigned to scheduling was directed to place the closure on the county calendar.
Organizers said the food-truck competition concludes midafternoon; the downtown concert will follow at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Zach said some trucks will remain to serve dinner crowds before the concert. The court did not vote on a fee or special-event permit at the meeting; it placed the closure on the county calendar for setup and traffic control planning.
