Staff said the county initially estimated device quantities at the contract’s outset but has since hired additional officers, increasing demand for devices and user‑level licenses. To accommodate the increased staffing, the county plans to add approximately 20 extra tasers and to purchase additional software licenses; staff estimated the modification’s total cost at about $276,000 spread across the remaining months of the contract.
Staff said the change will allow patrol staff and other personnel who choose to carry a device to have one available and that the county will maintain a ten‑unit spare inventory for repairs and exchanges. Staff noted prior small adjustments to license counts and that the current modification does not require changes to other contract terms.
No formal action was taken at the briefing; staff said they were notifying the commissioners of the planned adjustment.
