Chandler honors 15 students in Young Artists and Authors Showcase

The Chandler City Council on April 24 recognized 15 Chandler students selected for the 2025 Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS) and invited them to join council for photos after the meeting.
Mayor Hartke described YAAS as an international program that “encourages youth worldwide to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork, literature, poetry, photography, and music.” He said the 2025 YAAS theme highlights the power of friendships to foster understanding, collaboration and peace across borders and that invited winners from previous years were also in attendance.
The mayor and council thanked the students for participating and recognized their work from recent YAAS themes, which the mayor summarized as including climate resilience and peace-building in prior years. The council asked the students to come forward for photos after adjournment.
Fifteen students were singled out for recognition at the meeting; council members and staff encouraged the public to celebrate local youth arts participation and international cultural exchange.
