City hires design firm for 12 new pickleball courts at Dave White Regional Park

The Casa Grande City Council voted to approve Resolution 5753 authorizing a contract with General Acrylics Inc. for engineering design services to add up to 12 new dedicated pickleball courts at Dave White Regional Park.
City staff said the proposal covers design work only and will establish a scope and cost estimate for construction once the engineering phase is complete. The design contract was presented with a not-to-exceed amount of $63,609, with pricing obtained through a cooperative purchasing agreement.
Staff said the new courts are planned north of the current pickleball area, near the volleyball courts, and could require grading, water-control work and lighting. The project is included in the city’s FY25 capital improvement program approved during last year’s budget process.
Councilmembers and staff described existing courts as fully utilized, especially in winter months, and supported building dedicated pickleball courts rather than combining markings with tennis courts. No changes to the proposed design contract were offered during discussion.
Resolution 5753 was approved on a roll-call vote with all members present voting yes. Staff will return with a full construction scope and cost estimate after the design work is finished.
