The Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a preliminary subdivision plat Dec. 19 to allow Absolute Boat and RV Storage at 1600 Corona Drive to be subdivided into 51 condominium units.
City staff presented the application and recommended approval, saying the proposed preliminary plat meets the requirements set forth in Title 13 (Subdivisions). "Staff finds the proposed preliminary plat meets all the requirements set forth in Title 13 Subdivisions," the staff report said.
Lee Johnson of APL Surveying, representing the applicant, told the commission the project simply converts units from a rental model to individually owned condominium spaces. "This is just changing this unit over from a rental to capable of selling the units," Johnson said.
Commissioners asked no substantive questions of staff or the applicant and then voted. Commissioner Still moved to approve land use action ID 19-18-65; Commissioner Nelson seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
The property is roughly two acres and sits west of the highway near Country Shire Avenue adjacent to the Culver's site, according to the staff presentation. Staff's recommendation and the commission's approval were conditioned on the proposal meeting the subdivision requirements in Title 13 during subsequent design and permitting reviews.
The commission took no other action affecting the site at the meeting.
