Council approves consent agenda; announces board vacancies and highlights CAFR award, census reminder

At its Oct. 8, 2019 meeting, the Lake Havasu City Council approved the consent agenda by a 5-0 vote, heard announcements about vacancies on local boards and advisory bodies, and received the City Managers Report outlining recent community events and awards.

"I move we approve the consent agenda as presented," said Councilmember Koch; the motion was seconded and the council voted 5 to 0 to carry the item. The transcript does not itemize the separate consent items that were approved.

City clerk Miss Williams announced open seats on several city boards and commissions, including one regular pilot member on the Airport Advisory Board and vacancies on the Board of Adjustment (three regular members and three alternates). Applications are being accepted for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System; forms are available at City Hall and on the city website.

Mr. Fosley, sitting in for City Manager Knudson, delivered the City Managers Report. He noted employees wore purple Sept. 27 to support Lake Havasu High School football, recounted recent ribbon-cutting events attended by council members, and announced that Lake Havasu City received the Government Finance Officers Associations Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). He also reminded the public that Census Day for the 2020 census is April 1, 2020, and said census workers may be seen in neighborhoods.

In current-events committee reports, Vice Mayor David Lane described recent public open houses and focus groups for a regional transit feasibility study conducted through the Metropolitan Planning Organization, saying attendance included community members and that staff appreciated public input. The council set its next regular meetings for Oct. 22 and Nov. 12, 2019.
