Buckeye promotes April job fair through Ready to Work career academy

Brian Wright, economic development business manager for the city of Buckeye, urged residents to attend a job fair in April at the city's new City Hall East, the Landing Facility, and said local employers offer a wide range of positions beyond warehouse work.

Wright said the goal of the Buckeye Ready to Work Career Academy initiative is to help residents find jobs closer to home that "enhance the quality of life so they can live, work, and play right here in Buckeye." He told listeners that modern facilities in the West Valley include office, administrative, security, IT, medical and food-service positions in addition to logistics roles.

"I'm here to tell you that's not true," Wright said of the belief that nearby opportunities are only warehouse jobs. He described one partner in Buckeye that has opened a 1 million-square-foot facility employing "pickers, loaders, drivers, but also ... corporate roles, security staff, cafeteria workers," and said the site even includes "a doctor's office in the facility." Wright said attendees should not dismiss local opportunities because "the office buildings look different but the careers inside are waiting for you."

Wright promoted the city's Reduce the Commute job fair and advised job seekers to register using a QR code shown on screen during his remarks. He said the Ready to Work program provides job-search resources and career guidance and invited residents to contact the program for extra support.

The announcement sticks to promotion and guidance: Wright encouraged registration and attendance but did not present a formal action, funding details, or employer-specific hiring commitments during the remarks.
