District presents construction planning milestones; graduation dates set

The Northfield Public School District told the school board on April 28 that core planning for the first phase of the high school construction has concluded and that the next steps will involve user groups and more detailed facility decisions.
Superintendent Dr. Hillman said the core planning team met for an eighth and final time April 16, and the activity subcommittee likewise concluded its preliminary work. He said the district will move into user-group sessions (department representatives working on interior details such as classroom layouts, light-switch locations and window placement) and that the architectural team Wold will present public sketches and conceptual drawings at the board's May 12 meeting.
Dr. Hillman also provided graduation dates and upcoming meeting dates: the Area Learning Center (ALC) graduation is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, May 30 in the Middle School auditorium; Northfield High School's graduation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at Memorial Field. The board's next regular meetings were listed as Monday, May 12 (6 p.m.), Tuesday, May 27 (6 p.m., moved because of Memorial Day) and Monday, June 9 (6 p.m.).
