The Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical School Committee on April 25 approved a $54,890,390 operating and capital budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and authorized transfer of $400,000 from the capital stabilization (E&D) account into the FY26 capital renovations line.
The vote came after chair-led public hearings required under Chapter 71 of the Massachusetts General Laws and Section 38N, as advertised in the Standard-Times on April 20, 2025. A board member moved adoption of the budget and the motion passed on a voice vote. The committee then voted to approve the treasurer’s certification of assessments for the district’s member municipalities.
The treasurer’s certification set assessments as follows: New Bedford $6,419,230; Dartmouth $6,401,337; Fairhaven $2,631,002.68. Committee members corrected and amended the originally read figures during the meeting before voting to approve the certification.
Committee members asked for and received brief clarifications about the capital stabilization account. A staff member (Pam) reported a balance in the stabilization account of roughly $1,525,105; the $400,000 transfer was described as coming from E&D. A committee member (Paul) asked whether the $400,000 was the only amount being transferred; administration confirmed it was the transfer referenced for FY26 capital renovations.
No members indicated opposition when the board called for the votes, and the motions were recorded as approved. The budget adoption and certification were conducted under statutory requirements cited to the committee during the public hearings.
Meeting materials noted the budget and related certification were prepared per the statutory processes required of regional school districts.
