Speedway council approves $10,000 amendment to wastewater on-call engineering contract

The Town of Speedway Town Council on April 28 approved Amendment No. 2 to Task Order No. 2 with Wessler Engineering, increasing the contract ceiling for on-call wastewater services from $40,000 to $50,000.
Grant Kleinheinz, town manager, told the council the two-year agreement, approved in 2024 for service through 2025, originally carried a $40,000 ceiling and has seen additional work related to an agreed-order project and a discharge issue. "We're asking for a $10,000 increase in that contract," Kleinheinz said.
A council member asked whether $50,000 would be sufficient with eight months remaining on the contract; Kleinheinz said he hopes it will be sufficient and that staff will return if more funds are needed. The council voted 5-0 to approve the amendment.
No specific contractual revisions beyond the not-to-exceed increase were discussed at the meeting. Kleinheinz noted that staff will manage further needs if "something major happens," and that the increase was requested to cover additional testing and engineering oversight tied to the town's ongoing wastewater matters.
