It has helped me overcome a lot of controversies and problems just in my personal and work life. This program is absolutely wonderful, and I'm very, very happy that a lot of people in high school who are coming up to be young adults are given the opportunity to join such an amazing program. Thank you."
Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Chad Brown also addressed the commission: "First, I just wanna thank Sergeant Major for helping me become a better person in life because the JROTC program doesn't help you just build character inside the program also for the rest of your life." Brown thanked staff and instructors for their support during his JROTC experience.
The commission approved a proclamation designating the week of May 2025 as National Corrections Officers Week in Houston County. The proclamation text noted the county employs about "70 men and women who work as corrections deputies" and described the duties of corrections staff in local facilities.
The commission also approved a proclamation declaring May 2025 Small Business Week in Houston County and invited residents to participate in events hosted by the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce. A chamber representative thanked the commission and encouraged the public to follow the chamber’s website and social media for event listings.
All proclamations and the presentations were approved or presented by voice vote. The items were ceremonial; no policy actions resulted from the presentations.
