Maureen Carney reelected chair as commissioners elect 2025 officers

Maureen Carney was reelected chair of the Northampton Housing Authority during the agency’s April 2025 annual meeting, which also installed Patty Healy as vice chair and James D. Brooks as treasurer.
The annual meeting followed approval of last year’s minutes and proceeded to nominations and roll-call votes for each office. Commissioner Ben Wood, Commissioner James D. Brooks and others placed nominations; Carney accepted the nomination and addressed the board briefly after Commissioner Joella Tarbutton-Springfield made a bid for chair.
The vote proceeded by roll call for each contested office. After roll-call votes the chair announced Carney would continue as chair; Healy received a majority in the vice-chair roll call; Brooks was confirmed as treasurer. The chair then adjourned the annual-election portion of the meeting and the board moved into the Authority’s regular April agenda.
The election discussion included brief remarks from candidates about their priorities and references to board procedure. Commissioner Tarbutton-Springfield said she sought the chair to offer “a different vision, especially a lived experience of people who are in public housing.” Carney thanked commissioners for their support and said she intends to continue work for the benefit of NHA residents and the city.
No formal challenges to the results were recorded in the transcript; the chair completed the annual meeting and the board reconvened for regular business.
