Board adopts second readings of four policies, including public-records and military-student policies

The Solanco School District board approved second readings and final adoption of four policies on April 28.
The district presented Policy 202 (eligibility of nonresident students) as a legal-citation update and to define the appeals process. Policy 254 is a new policy required by law that addresses educational opportunities for military children and seeks to remove barriers to enrollment, attendance and graduation for military families. Policy 806 (child abuse) was updated to reflect recent legal citations and a terminology change; no substantive procedural changes were reported. Policy 801 (public records) was updated to reflect changes in legislation and clarifies that the district may deny anonymous requests under certain circumstances.
Each policy received a second-reading motion and was approved by voice vote.
