The Solanco School District board voted April 28 to approve a resolution extending the Lancaster-Lebanon Joint Authority (the JOC tied to IU 13) for an additional 50 years, to a term ending May 1, 2075.
A board representative described the joint authority as the entity that manages purchasing, leasing and maintenance of properties associated with Intermediate Unit 13 (IU 13), noting recent property purchases at Northern Lebanon and Manheim educational centers. The district's representative to the joint authority, Mrs. Tucker (board designee), said the authority coordinates construction projects and leases and handles sublease coordination.
Board members asked whether Solanco could opt out and were told approval is a standard part of being a participating district; the representative said the district simply votes to approve because it is a member of IU 13. The resolution passed by voice vote.
