Senate introduces multiple bills and refers them to committee

The Michigan Senate read and referred a large set of bills during the April 29, 2025 session, placing measures before standing committees for review.

Senators offered several Senate bills that received first reading and were referred to committees: Senator Victory offered Senate Bill 265 (to amend classification of public roads; referred to Transportation and Infrastructure); Senator Hertel offered Senate Bill 266 (to amend the Social Welfare Act; referred to Housing and Human Services); Senator Geiss offered Senate Bill 267 (to create a Michigan African Caribbean Trade Commission within the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; referred to Economic and Community Development); Senator Erwin offered Senate Bill 268 (to amend the public health code; referred to Regulatory Affairs); Senator Camilleri offered Senate Bill 269 (to amend the aeronautics code; referred to Transportation and Infrastructure); Senator Runstead offered Senate Bill 270 (to amend the Revised Judicature Act of 1961; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety); and Senator McBroom offered Senate Bill 271 (to amend the Open Meetings Act; referred to Elections and Ethics).

The House transmitted many bills to the Senate for first and second reading and committee referral, including House Bill 4033 (fiduciary/unit trust conversions; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety), House Bill 4034 (amend Uniform Statutory Rule Against Perpetuities; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety), House Bill 4047 (civil liability and criminal penalties for non-consensual deepfake images; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety), House Bill 4048 (amend Code of Criminal Procedure; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety), House Bill 4077 (amend public health code; referred to Health Policy), House Bill 4078 (amend act on investigations of certain deaths; referred to Health Policy), House Bill 4122 (amend food law; referred to Regulatory Affairs), House Bills 4207 and 4208 (amendments to the Insurance Code of 1956; referred to Health Policy), House Bills 4245 and 4255 (food law/public health code; referred to Natural Resources & Agriculture or Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety as announced), House Bill 4256 (amend Code of Criminal Procedure; referred to Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety), House Bill 4260 (amend General Sales Tax Act; referred to Appropriations), and House Bill 4261 (amend Michigan Trust Fund Act; referred to Appropriations).
