Lebanon Fire reports 115 emergency responses, ongoing hiring and training activity

Lebanon Fire reported 115 emergency calls, substantial training hours, community education and progress in the hiring process for new firefighters.
Chief Batson (Lebanon Fire Department) told the Board of Public Works and Safety that since the last meeting the department responded to 115 emergency calls, logged 2,808 training hours, participated in public education events, hosted a CPR certification class and completed 86 commercial inspections.
Batson highlighted personnel training and recognition: Captain Sam Doherty attended the Hoosier Burn Camp event as a counselor; Firefighter Tyler Rigdon completed Honor Guard school and joined the department honor guard. The department completed second-round interviews for hiring from a candidate pool that began with over 200 applicants and has been narrowed to a top 20 list; ladder-climb testing was scheduled for the following week.
Batson offered contact information for CPR class registration and noted the department's role in community events such as the Fourth of July parade and the Boone County Memorial Police Officers Day.
