Planning department to launch Elevate Lebanon repair projects with Habitat for Humanity

Ben Bottiger, planning director, told the Board of Public Works and Safety on April 28 that the department completed 38 building inspections since the last meeting and issued 55 permits, including one new single-family home permit.
Bottiger said the Elevate Lebanon program, a partnership with Boone County Habitat for Humanity, will begin soon with projects that provide exterior repair assistance to qualifying homeowners who meet financial eligibility screening done by Habitat. The program combines donated labor and some financial assistance; Bottiger said the first work day is planned for the coming weekend.
On code enforcement, Bottiger reported more than 100 investigative activities and 42 new cases over the past weeks, with grass and weeds emerging as a common complaint. He said around 90–95% of cases obtain voluntary corrective action after initial communication.
