Mayor: Pinewood EMS station renovation on track; animal shelter geotech work underway

County Mayor reported that the Tennessee State Fire Marshal stamped plans for the new Pinewood EMS station and that renovation work is underway; doors have been ordered and the county’s project manager is confident an ambulance can operate from the station in June. "We're pretty confident that we're going to have an ambulance in that station June," the mayor said, noting construction is a design-build project and some design adjustments remain possible.
On animal-welfare infrastructure, the mayor said geotechnical work is under way at the preferred animal-shelter site and that utilities are available on the proposed side of the road so crews will not need to bore under the road. He also reported the park light-pole that storm-damaged has been replaced and is operational.
The mayor told commissioners he circulated a suggestion to name a county building the "Edwin Hickman Memorial Building" and requested feedback; one commissioner replied by email, the mayor said. Separately, interviews are scheduled Friday morning for the planning-and-zoning director position.
