Child support: Josie from the county child-support office reported the Department of the Treasury discovered an IRS federal tax-intercept processing error in February. The state identified seven impacted payers with active Dunn County cases; collectively those cases represented about $136,000 in unpaid child support certified for federal tax intercept, Josie said. She told the committee the support remains owed but the IRS did not intercept the funds this year.
Sheriff’s office facility update: the sheriff reported a contractor quote to remove roughly 25-year-old carpet in the jail and install epoxy flooring. The total quote for the entire facility was $266,000; the sheriff said $85,000 is currently available in jail-assessment funds for this year and the office plans to do the north half of the jail first and complete the south half next year as funds allow. Committee members asked whether square footage was specified in the estimate; the sheriff said the quote listed pod and area names (pods A–F and rec area) but did not include square footage.
Court staffing: Katie (court staff) said the court will interview four candidates on Friday for a part-time deputy clerk position; four of eight applicants were referred and interviews are scheduled this week.
First-responder grant: the committee approved a budget adjustment after the sheriff’s first-responder program received a $12,398.08 equipment award. The sheriff said the award came from a program that divided a pot of money among applicants; the committee approved the budget amendment on a motion by Tom Gilbert and a second by Don Jetson.
