Mosinee School District board elects Paul Novitski president, fills officer posts and committee seats

The Mosinee School District Board of Education elected Paul Novitski as board president and Megan Stankowski as vice president at its organizational meeting. The board also selected Donna Kaiser as clerk after a tie was resolved by the board’s tie‑breaking procedure, confirmed Derek Ness as treasurer, assigned members to standing and ad hoc committees and approved routine banking authorizations.

The organizational meeting opened with the administration of oaths for newly seated members after a resignation allowed one member to take a different seat. Three members repeated the oath of office during the meeting; Derek Ness recited the oath on the record: “I, Derek Ness, having been elected or appointed…that I will support the Constitution of the United States…that I will faithfully discharge the duties of said office to the best of my ability. So help me God.” Rod, serving as the notary, administered and notarized the oath.

The board held ballots for president and vice president. After nominations, Paul Novitski won the presidency on a 5‑3 vote. Megan Stankowski won the vice presidency by the same 5‑3 margin. The clerk election produced repeated ballots that resulted in a tie; the board then adopted the tie‑breaking procedure in its policy, and names were drawn from a container as prescribed by that policy. By that tie‑break, Donna Kaiser was declared clerk. Derek Ness was nominated and confirmed as treasurer after no other nominations were made.

The board also selected members for its standing committees. Donna Kaiser was asked to chair the personnel committee, with additional members appointed by the president; Derek Ness agreed to chair the finance/building committee; Megan Stankowski agreed to chair the instructional program committee. The president said he would dissolve existing ad hoc committees and reconstitute committee assignments at a later meeting.

On routine business, the board approved an existing signature plate used for checks and a routine banking motion authorizing the board president, treasurer and clerk to be listed as signatories for district accounts. Diane Gorman moved to approve the signature plate; the motion carried on a voice vote. The routine banking authorization was approved on a voice vote; the board clarified that listing names on checks is managed through district procedures and Skyward rather than a physical stamp.
