4-H council and county summarize swine barn repairs; county line item remains available for further fairgrounds projects

The contract price for that work was $107,052, Schneck said; the county had budgeted $125,000 for swine barn and building maintenance, leaving an unspent balance of $17,948 in that budget line.
Schneck said the contractor made additional repairs beyond the contract scope (replacement of some posts up to the trusses) as an in-kind contribution to ensure the barn was safe and ready for the fair. The 4-H committee also reported additional grants were being used for gutters and other exterior work, and the committee plans further storm-drain work and site improvements funded by other grant sources.
Commissioners indicated support for allowing the 4-H council to use the remaining budgeted funds for related fairgrounds maintenance and storm-sewer projects, and Schneck said the council would bring details and quotes as needed for individual items.
Ending: Schneck said the fairgrounds committees and volunteers are proceeding on a modest list of remaining improvements and will present additional funding requests if needed; commissioners noted limited county budget capacity for similar projects in 2026.
