The Benton County Board of Supervisors voted to provide a 10% match—$51,020.74—from county lost (local option sales tax) funds to the City of Newhall to assist with purchase of a new pumper-tanker under a $510,207.41 contract with Toyne Fire Truck Company.
A Newhall representative told the board the department—fcurrent truck will be 20 years old within two years and that replacement is needed to maintain insurance ratings for the district. The county—fstandard practice for gifts of this type is a 10% contribution; staff said the county would route the gift directly to the city per the request.
Board action: a motion to provide the 10% match carried on a roll-call vote. Supervisors asked staff to prepare the necessary resolution language and payment routing.
