Wausau Board of Public Works approves paving, parking, PFAS payment and design consultant amendment

The Wausau Board of Public Works on April 29 approved four procurement and payment items that advance street maintenance, downtown infrastructure and drinking-water treatment work.
The board awarded the 25 asphalt paving Project A to American Asphalt for $472,190.55, after staff opened bids showing a competing RC Pavers bid of $561,463.34. A motion to approve American Asphalt was made, seconded and the board voted “Aye.” No roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.
The board next opened bids for the downtown parking improvements project and approved the low bidder, Haas, at $247,407.00. Other bids recorded in the transcript were Pembroke Companies at $280,482.20, Petrikos at $280,859.00 and Switlick at $288,253.50. A motion to approve the low bid was made, seconded and passed with an “Aye” vote; no individual vote tally appears in the record.
For the city’s drinking-water treatment work, the board approved pay estimate No. 17 to Mallow Stone Construction for $73,006. The payment had been reviewed and recommended by the board’s consultant; a motion to approve was made, seconded and recorded as “Aye.”
The board also approved Amendment 8 to the design agreement with Becker Hoppe for the Wausau downtown mall redevelopment in the amount of $28,540. The amendment was described in the meeting as a time-and-materials authorization to allow Becker Hoppe to spend up to about five hours per week through the remainder of the construction season answering contractor questions and assisting CORE (the inspection contractor) with plan clarifications. A motion to approve the amendment was made, seconded and approved with an “Aye” vote.
