Mount Pleasant outlines summer events, tourism partnerships and survey results

Mount Pleasant village staff on April 28 outlined a series of tourism promotions and summer events, including new video partnerships, an online community survey and a slate of concerts and family activities intended to draw visitors and residents to local parks.
The presentation, delivered by Matt (staff member), said the village has signed contracts with the Racine County Economic and Development Company to produce a promotional video and with Discover Wisconsin to start promoting Mount Pleasant in coming months. Matt said the village also received outreach from a PBS-linked series, Main Streets, which has selected three local businesses for filming and plans to begin production the week after Memorial Day.
Village staff said an online survey being run through May aims to identify popular local attractions and “hidden gems” in the park system. Early results, the presenter said, show respondents value the village’s parks and named restaurants such as Wells Brothers among the favorites.
On events, staff announced a new summer concert series titled Sounds of Sunset (formerly Mount Pleasant Music), with scheduled performers including the Stephen Hull Experience on June 17, Love Monkeys on July 8, Betsy Aide and the Well Known Strangers on July 20 and Dancing Queen (an ABBA salute) on Aug. 19. Staff also described a family Chalk the Walk event planned for Campus Park in August and noted the return of the Tour of America's Dairyland time trials in June near the Microsoft/Foxconn property; that event will include masters and juniors national competition elements and separate road races staged in Walworth County.
Matt described the Chalk the Walk event as a short, family-friendly sidewalk-art gathering intended to test demand, with potential to expand into a larger festival in future years. He said the bluegrass and other offerings were intended to introduce new event types in the village and increase attendance at summer programming.
Trustees thanked staff for the update and expressed optimism that the programming would help attract residents who are choosing local recreation over longer travel this year.
The presentation closed with staff saying a wider rollout of the updated Mount Pleasant tourism website is expected in June, following finishing touches.
