The LaSalle Finance Committee approved a one-year renewal with Global Site Locations Industries (GSLI) for economic development consulting and outreach at a cost of $26,000.
Kurt (staff) described the partnership as an expanded, global economic-development membership that provides access to a dashboard of prospect opportunities, trade-show representation and advertising. Kurt said the city's membership over the past year led to contacts, opportunities submitted on behalf of LaSalle properties, and a recent visit from GSLI's CEO.
Committee members reviewed the proposed package and pricing. The transcript lists a 12-month Elite Cities membership at $8,500; a 12-month industrial lighthouse campaign at $11,250; and a 12-month retail lighthouse campaign at $11,500 (the transcript notes "up to $250" and arrives at a subtotal of about $31,000). Committee members said a community growth grant of $5,000 reduces the city's net cost to $26,000.
Alderman Pataki and others urged a multi-year commitment to allow more time for results; some members said one year may be insufficient. Alderman Reynolds moved to approve the one-year renewal for $26,000; Alderman Lavery seconded. Roll call recorded one no vote from Alderman Thompson and affirmative votes from the other members present; the motion carried.
The committee did not adopt multiyear funding during this meeting; staff was authorized to renew the membership for one year under the approved amount.
