Committee declines city sponsorship request from business association after group alerts staff

Chairman Ptak said he had contacted the association's president, who was surprised the solicitation letter went to the city rather than only to the association's membership. The president told the committee the association "would pass on that" and that the group greatly appreciates the city's prior in-kind and monetary support for events such as Blues & Jazz.
Committee members confirmed the association contributes staffing and in-kind services such as stage donations and shared costs for flowers and greenery. No motion to fund or purchase sponsorship by the city was made.
